SO WHAT IS THE ONLINE GARDENER

Like everything, in these days of corporate giants, your local garden centre is struggling to survive. Online retail sales and giant superstores threaten our very existence. The Online Gardener is a kind of "garden centre cooperative" bringing together local garden centres from across the country. We want to provide a national network of centres able to meet gardeners needs online for the first time, and enable the little guy to compete with the faceless corporates.

In order to do this, we've written this website to be "Postcode aware", this means that you need to tell us where we'll be delivering before you start filling your basket (or barrow as we prefer). That way we can present you with stock listing for the centre looking after your area (don't worry this doesn't affect pricing). So the first place to head (if you haven't already done so) is to our postcode selector.

Meeting the challenge of retail giants and superstores head on and keeping the centres alive for the community they serve is our goal. A goal we hope you will help us to achieve by using us for all of your gardening needs and spreading the word.

With us you will have a friendly face from your local centre delivering your goods and available to help if you have any problems. A website with customer service whatever next!

The venture started back in June '06 and we are growing all the time, we have about 30% coverage of the UK at the moment, but many other centres are interested in joining once they see that the concept works. If you location isn't covered then ask your local centre to get in touch, the costs are small and the rewards for both youself and the centre are obvious.
